Alternative Sterilization for Healthcare Packaging: Chlorine Dioxide

The sterilization industry for single use, sterile barrier systems in healthcare packaging has long been dominated by two options: Ethylene Oxide and Gamma Irradiation. But several factors, such as regulations, supply chain challenges, and sustainability, are leading organizations to consider other options. Alternative chemical gas and radiation technologies that were once considered “niche” are gaining popularity in industry. One modality rising to the surface is Chlorine Dioxide. As industry works to accelerate acceptance and standardization of alternatives, it will be critical for healthcare packaging professionals to understand aspects of Chlorine Dioxide technology, including: chamber and parameter considerations, compatibility of packaging and device materials, depth of penetration, scalability, and more. Watch this webinar replay as Jeremy Elwell (Technical Manager, Oliver Healthcare Packaging), and Emily Lorcheim, PMP (VP of Sterilization Technologies, ClorDiSys Solutions, Inc) shared their knowledge on this topic and provided guidance for healthcare packaging teams to effectively collaborate and partner with sterilization decision-makers in their organization.
